Hi, my name is Mark Heckert. I am a California & Nevada real estate & mortgage broker who co-owns and manages two busy offices at beautiful Lake Tahoe. RE/MAX Realty Today is located in California at 2230 Lake Tahoe Boulevard, near Tahoe Keys Boulevard in South Lake Tahoe (next door to Steamers); our mortgage division, Realty Today Financial is also at this location. Our Nevada office is located near the casinos & Heavenly Valley at 237 Tramway Drive in Stateline (next door to Fox & Hound at Summit Village). Though a local resident for a relatively short time, since 2002 I have dug my roots deep. In just a short time, I quickly became a local homeowner & investor, successful real estate broker, and started a major franchise real estate company in two states with the #1 real estate company in the world, RE/MAX®.

Being a member of the Lake Tahoe Community and sensitive to its future growth, there were several reasons to choose the RE/MAX® name; a couple of the biggest were 1) that RE/MAX® is still owned and managed by the founding real estate brokers since 1972 (not a huge conglomerate corporation like its major competitors), and 2) the dedication to giving back to the community where I do business. RE/MAX® is one of the largest contributors to the Children's Miracle Network and the Susan G. Koman Race for the Cure Breast Cancer Foundation; I am proud to say that 100% of my agents donate a portion of every transaction to both of these powerful charities.

I graduated from California State University at Long Beach in 1993 with a Bachelor's degree in English and a Minor in Criminology. As manager for the Trader Joe's Company for many years, I helped open several stores around the San Francisco Bay Area. The last store I opened was at Geary/Masonic and remains to this day one of the largest and busiest in the chain. I managed over 100 crew members, dealt with countless clients, and ran back office systems and human resources. My last 2 years I spent concurrently serving at the Federal Building on a Grand Jury focusing on several high profile targets. I think those experiences really taught me to get to know people, their nature, and their needs.

After leaving the Trader Joe's Company in June of 2000, I spent the next couple of years as a securities and commodities trader; which got old fast as the devastating world events and the markets made a bad mix for anyone trying to navigate in this industry. I finally decided to pack up, sell my San Mateo home and move up to Lake Tahoe to be a ski bum. As a kid growing up, I spent a lot of vacations in the Carnelian Bay area of North Lake Tahoe; even back then I knew I would be back to the Lake for the long haul. I love the nature, slower pace, and the kind souls that the area seemingly breeds from thin air. I bought a home within a few days and never have looked back. I love living here, and I especially love my career; finding people their dream home or helping them to sell to realize another dream is always satisfying to me. And, running two great offices full of people who have that same vision is just an awesome feeling!
